At JAC’s we talk a big game about supporting local, but so many of the partnerships we have take place behind the scenes. So we decided we’d better do something big, to showcase just a few of the amazing vendors we have growing local food right here in our Northeast Louisiana community.
Therefore, we present our Farm to Table Community Meal, coming Saturday, May 21. Reserve your seat now, as space is limited! We’re fostering a comfortable, community-minded meal environment where all are welcome to gather around the table to enjoy food raised from the very ground they walk every day!
Start off your evening with a charcuterie board topped with all-JAC’s original food, local fruit, and cheeses. Then as the meal begins, we’ll serve an amuse bouche (one-bite) of our from-scratch candied bacon bites–made fresh from pork belly. The appetizer course features pimento-stuffed eggs (from 3 Board Farms in Downsville) topped with fresh spicy micro-greens from Wall Greens Farm & Seed.
The opener (right before the entree!) will be a braised pork shank with white beans and turnip greens. While the main event is a smoked short rib with caramel bourbon pecan sweet potatoes and roasted local vegetables.
For dessert we’ll feature local berries from Indian Village Harvest Farm in a fresh, house-made dessert (TBA)!
One theme that runs through our whole menu is the emphasis on local food! Our community is home to many wonderful independent farmers. We hope that you’ll come away from this meal with a full stomach and an enriched understanding of just how much our community has to offer.
